GRASS-FED BEEF

Our farm currently hosts a 17 black angus cow-calf herd. We also custom graze black angus cattle for other local producers.  

We manage our cattle based on rotational grazing principles and work hard to not only provide high quality forage, but to build precious organic matter within our pastures through frequently moving the herd. This keeps our grasses in a vegetative state and encourages root development, thus improving soil quality and quantity.

Along with ecological benefits, purely grass-fed cattle have healthier fat content, a higher quantity of omega-3 fatty acids and elevated levels of antioxidant vitamins. 

Our Beef is available in bundles or in individual cuts.

 

PASTURED PORK

Valley Spirit Farm also raises pastured pork. Similar to cattle, pigs who are able to express their natural behavior on pasture are healthier and happier, thus producing healthier meat.

While forage does provide nutrition for pigs, it is necessary to supplement. We feed our hogs non-GMO grain sourced from a local feed mill (Bagdad Feed Mill). We do not use antibiotics.

Our Pork is available in bundles or in individual cuts.

 

Sustainably Grown Produce

In addition to grass-fed beef and pastured pork, Valley Spirit Farm also grows seasonal produce and mushrooms.

In our vegetable production we utilize tillage as little as possible and strive to nourish the soil food web, our most valuable resource. All of our produce is grown without chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. We strive to use biological controls when resisting pest pressure and any resources used are OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) listed and organic. 

Our Produce is available in our CSA programs.

 

CULINARY MUSHROOMS

Our mushrooms are grown on inoculated wood chips and fruited in a shaded greenhouse. Nothing makes us happier than enjoying pork chops and Shiitake mushrooms on the grill midsummer! Specialty varieties include:

  • Blue & Pink Oyster

  • King Trumpet

  • Shiitakes
